Cocke County cities are often overlooked gems of history in the Smokies. Not revamped, but original; not flash, just honest. Cocke County may not roll out the Winterfest Lights or have a Dolly Parton to put in the Christmas Parade, but we have character! Our views of the Smoky Mountains are unobstructed by rental cabins & retreats and provide bountiful vistas as far as the eye can see. This side of the county line, you can still have a private picnic at the fire towers or on the lake in full view of the majestic Smokies! Our trinket shops are not overpriced, nor are there souvenir shops on every corner....what we DO have is a side of the Smokies you haven't seen in a while. It looks similar to the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg of the 70's, of days gone by, before big tourism, before dinner theater, before Rod Run! A place where traffic is minimal, the wait for dinner is short and the hotel and cabin nightly rates won't break your budget.
